Community Arrives

NBC has a new addition to its thursday comedy lineup this season.

“Community” joins in right after “The Office”.

It’s about the mixed bag of students at a community college, including a fast talking,  but suspended lawyer’s forced back to school.

“He’s a guy that you know can be a jerk,“ said actor Joel McHale, “But also be a nice guy at the same time.“ 

The jerk part happens when Jeff Winger makes up a story about leading a spanish study group

“She’s got her defenses up,“ said McHale’s co-star, actress Gillian Jacobs. “Because she can see how much b.s. I’m throwing.  Yeah.“

But when word of the study group gets out, a real one materializes.

“He’s forced to do something that he’s never done, which is work at something,“ said McHale, “Really do work.“

That’s a real challenge because of his colorful collection of study mates including sitcom rookie Chevy Chase.

“When I read the script, I really did laugh out loud, and I just had to be a part of it.  i felt it was just too funny.“

Laughs coming early on from everyone’s baggage.

“Everybody’s bringing something,“ said McKahle, “Which is the case in real life as well no matter where you are.“
