ST. JOHN “THE MIGHTY FORTRESS” TO HOST BOBBY JONES GOSPEL TALENT SEARCH
The Media and Performing Arts Ministry of St. John Baptist Church “The Mighty Fortress” will collaborate with Dr. Bobby Jones of BET’s Bobby Jones Gospel on Friday, November 27 and Saturday, November 28, 2009 to spotlight some of the finest gospel performers in the state of Georgia. Other areas include, but are not limited to South Carolina, North Carolina, and Florida. If you have seen “American Idol” and “America’s Got Talent,” or “Sunday’s Best,” then Bobby Jones is the Gospel version of these nationally syndicated televised talent searches. Winners of the competition will be featured on The Word Television Network’s Bobby Jones Presents Series. The Word is seen by millions locally and nationally, and is a mainstream media broadcaster for showcasing hundreds of talented gospel singers. The station covers a broad range of demographics for urban African American and non-African American ministries, and contemporary and traditional gospel music.
Rev. Dr. George P. Lee, III and his entire congregation is excited about the prospect of Dr. Bobby Jones coming to Savannah to launch his talent search for the 2009 Present Series. As host church for the event, Pastor Lee along with the Media and Performing Arts Ministry are honored to have been chosen to showcase this event of national proportion, primarily because of the “state of the art” Broadcast Studio the church already has in place, Savannah’s beautiful connection to our surroundings counties and low-country areas, combined with the level of respect the church holds in the community.
A News Conference will be held at St. John on Friday, October 16, 2009 at 11 a.m.
528 Hartridge Street – between East Broad and Price Street
