It’s an art form that continues to gain popularity around the country and right here in Savannah.  Spoken word is a style of literary art or artistic performance in which lyrics, poetry, or stories are spoken rather than sung.

May 1 - 3, Spitfire Poetry Group (www.spitfirepoetrygroup.org) presents its 5th annual Spoken Word Festival (www.savannahspokenwordfestival.com).  According to organizer and co-founder, Clinton D. Powell, it’s an effort to showcase local talent and expose others to a genre that’s relatively new to Savannah.

News 3 Coastal Sunrise Anchor Kim Gusby talks with Powell about the upcoming event.
