Seldom do you find a trained hair dresser giving away the tricks of the trade. But LaDonna Dryer will be the first to agree, times are changing. So this event, in which customers are learning the ins and out of hair tool use, is just one way to adapt.
Every one deserves to be treated from time to time. That’s why Sunday Luciana’s Delights took the tab on brunch for whoever showed up at the He Said….She Said Salon and Beyond on Skidaway Road. While the brunch went on outside, inside the salon was another act of kindness.
Seldom do you find a trained hair dresser giving away the tricks of the trade. But LaDonna Dryer will be the first to agree, times are changing. So this event, in which customers are learning the ins and out of hair tool use, is just one way to adapt.
“We try to really cater to the needs of both groups, those who can still visit the salon and those who can’t,” Dryer said.
The attendees not only learned ways to get the salon-look at home, but they helped people who weren’t even there. By donating their used hair tools, they got a discount on new ones, while passing on their product to women who can’t afford them.
“And we will buy those from them if they are purchasing a new tool. And in turn, those tools that we buy from them we will donate to the Wesley Community Center because they are so interested in promoting the education and economic growth of women and children in shelters,” Dryer said.
But as the economy struggles, more and more consumers do, too. Lucky for Dryer, though, time spent at the salon is precious for many.
“It makes us feel good to have our hair done or have a new outfit or our nails done,” Jennifer Butler said. “And it gives us a new outlook so we can go back to work and deal with our family and all the issues that are in the world today.“
But how does a business prosper from giving? Dryer believes it can happen.
“We always recognize that if you give then you will get back and it may not be in the form of a major profit but you will get back in some form or fashion,” she said.
