The City of Savannah is ready to get tough on landlords with trashy rundown property. They don’t know exactly how they’ll do it yet, but it looks like there are fines and forced inspections coming soon.

Will Incentives Bring Moviemakers Back?
The City of Savannah did $21 million in movie business in 1998. In 2001, no feature films came to town marking the end of a decade of moviemaking here. Now there is hope of a renaissance as the state of Georgia offers free money to entice Hollywood back to town.
Drive Restocks Local Food Bank Shelves
On Saturday, May 10th, 64,550 pounds of donated food arrived at Second Harvest to be sorted by volunteers as a results of the annual Letter Carriers Food Drive.

Forsyth Park Playground Closes for Fort Renovations

Historic Preservationists Slow War on Blight
An aggressive program to rid the city of rundown properties got cheers from Savannah neighbors after it demolished or fixed up 100 blighted homes and lots in 2007. City Sending Equipment to Haiti?
The City of Savannah is looking at a plan that would send tens of thousands of dollars worth of surplus trucks and a bulldozer to our sister city in Haiti. The shipping alone will cost $26 Thousand.

In an effort to ease gridlock, City Traffic Engineering and Metro Police Traffic Patrol have devised a traffic plan that directs vehicles to certain major routes depending upon where in the Historic District you park.
