According to the victim, he was home alone when he heard a knock on his back door, which he did not answer. Shortly thereafter, he heard a vehicle drive around back of his residence and his back door was forced open.
The home owner locked himself in the bathroom and called his father, who lived nearby, informing him that someone had entered his residence and he thought they may be armed. The suspects eventually forced their way into the bathroom and the victim ran out of the home, where his father had arrived armed with a rifle. When the two suspects exited the residence, one was shot by the home owner’s father. The other suspect fled the area in their vehicle.
The wounded suspect was taken into custody and transported to a medical facility where he is receiving treatment for his injuries. The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office has personnel guarding the suspect until he is stable enough to take into custody and transport to the Colleton County Detention Center.
