Tybee Island parents say they moved to the island to keep their children safe.  They’re extremely disturbed after learning that a man police say last lived on the island was arrested for child molestation and sexual battery.

51-year old Lawrence Madison is charged with 3 counts of child molestation, 2 counts of sexual battery, aggravated sexual battery and public indecency.

Madison, a Savannah lawyer, was supposed to have a bond hearing this morning, but it was postponed.  He turned himself in to authorities last night around 10:00 p.m.  Savannah-Chatham Metro Police say Madison was supposed to turn himself in by 5 p.m., but didn’t.  That’s when officials turned to the media and the public for help in locating him.

how would YOU know if the victim is lying?? for all you know, it could be the truth that they have been trying to prove since it started. who are you to call out the victim?? don’t you think everyone has dealt with enough without your rude comments?? why don’t you learn to keep your mouth shut and let the courts decide what is the “truth” and what is a “lie”??

Very true, littlejoe, that real victims of genuine sexual crimes are very hesitant to come forward, and they should be encouraged.

In this case, however, the so-called “victim” has a history of proven false accusations against authority figures.  She’s figured out how to play the system to strike at adults she doesn’t like.  WSAV can easily check the court records and verify that this is so.

don’t jump to your own conclusions.  this is why so many people do not report sexual abuse, they are afraid no one will believe them, yes there are also those who falsely accuse; however, most sexual predators are not caught because no one reports them, so lay off, let the courts decide, who knows you may have a sexual predator living next to you, wouldn’t you have liked it if the victim would have turned him in.

Mr. Madison has already been through the wringer once before, falsely accused by an angry child who simply resented rules and discipline.  He was cleared of all charges and the kid was found to be lying.

Once again, this is merely a case of a rebellious child pointing the finger because they don’t like authority.

Mr. Madison shouldn’t be dragged before all the media.  WSAV should be more careful before plastering people’s mugshots on TV with the label “CHILD MOLESTER” written all over.
