One Man Dead, Another Injured in Semper Fi Club Shooting

Beaufort County Sheriff’s Investigators say one man was killed, another injured in a shooting Sunday morning at the Semper Fi Club.  They say it happened during a private party at the club around 2am.  Deputies called to the scene found 44 year old Henry Jones of Seabrook suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.  They also spotted a car speeding from the scene and stopped it.  Inside they found 21 year old Darnelle Parker of Beaufort being rushed to the hospital by friends to be treated for a gunshot wound to the leg.  Both victims were taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital.  Jones was transferred to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah where he later died.  Deputies at the scene say witnesses identified 22 year old Jaquawn Dominique Brewer of Yemassee as the shooter.  They say he began shooting randomly into the crowd - not appearing to target anyone specifically.  Brewer turned himself in to authorities on Monday.  He is facing charges of Murder, Assault and Battery with Intent to Kill, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Possession of a Fairarm during the Commission of a Violent Crime.

Sheriff’s Investigators say Brewer may also face additional charges in reference to a separate shooting incident that occurred earlier Saturday afternoon. They say Brewer has been identified as the man who pointed a handgun at an acquaintance, 28-year old Maria Griffin, at a baseball game at the Gray’s Hill Community Center. After threatening to kill her, deputies say Brewer fled the scene then later that evening fired off several rounds at the woman’s vehicle.
