Police Search for 2 Burglary Suspects

Savannah High was on lock down this afternoon after two suspected burglars were on the run.
Police say the two men broke in to a home on the corner of Elgin and Screven on Savannah’s Eastside.
The homeowner was home at the time and called the police when he heard the noise. Police responded but the suspects got away.
Helicopters were dispatched and Savannah High, and Shuman Middle School which are close to the site of the crime, were on lock down as a precaution.
Police say the two suspects are still on the loose.
“We’ve found is sometimes it’s groups of people going around committing the same kind of crimes and other times it just happens to be a coincidence of fairly high profiles ones 2 days in a row,“ explains SCMPD spokeswoman Veda Lamar Nichols.
Nichols says despite what it seems, the number of burglaries in Savannah has not risen.
