Metro Police arrested James Gardner, 40, Saturday night after they say he robbed a woman and sexually assaulted her.

SAVANNAH, Ga.—Police said a man arrested Saturday night is now facing additional charges of giving authorities false information.

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police arrested a man accused of robbing and sexually assaulting a woman who was walking along Henry Street around 11:00 p.m. Saturday.

Police said James Gardner, 40, was captured at 33rd Street and Harmon Street.

Gardner is facing charges of armed robbery, sodomy and kidnapping. 

On Sunday, police had identified the suspect as Nathaniel Young.  Police said Monday that Gardner gave them a false name and birthdate and is now charged with giving false information to police.
