The Statesboro Police Department is currently investigating a local man on charges of Child Molestation, Sexual Battery, Criminal Attempt of Aggravated Sodomy, Entering Auto, Felony Obstruction and 2 counts of Burglary.  31 year old Bobby Joe Cooper Jr. was placed under arrest after officers were called to a North Main Street home early Saturday morning regarding a report of Burglary and Child Molestation.  Responding detectives met with the juvenile victim and her mother and was told that a man had entered the residence while they were sleeping and assaulted a 10 year old girl.  The man fled the house when the child began screaming.  Mr. Cooper was arrested as he fled the residence after entering again that morning nearly an hour after police arrived.  The alleged victim’s were at the Statesboro Police Department at the time.  Mr. Cooper fled from police and fought the Officers as they took him into custody.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Statesboro Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division, Detective Ken Scott: 912-764-1542.
