SAVANNAH, Ga.—Known as the “Traveling Evangelist”, 57-year old Frances Brown is now in jail.

That announcement was made by Savannah Chatham Metro Chief Willie Lovett and detectives of the department’s Financial Crimes Unit Thursday afternoon.

Police believe Brown preyed on an elderly couple, befriending them to get access to their personal information and credit card accounts.  Detectives say Brown ran up about $16,000 worth of debt in the couple’s name.

Now caught, Brown is charged with identity fraud, elder abuse and unauthorized use of a credit card.

Good job Chief Lovett and your detective team. Your actions to locate and arrest this alleged predator of seniors is excellent work. Elder abuse and financial exploitation is a very serious and growing issue - It is a CRIME - and a felony in GA. A victim is devistated both emotionally and financially. Hopefully the justice system will bring justice to this victim and others.
