Damaging Storms Sweep Across the Coastal Empire

 A clash of air masses wreaked havoc for parts of the Coastal Empire and Low Country on Tuesday afternoon.  From strong damaging winds to large hail, there were numerous reports of storm damage. 

Hail Reports

Eden (Effingham County):  a trained weather spotter reported penny size hail covering the ground and strong damaging winds estimated at 50mph 

Ludowici (Long County):  large hail estimated at .88” 

Hinesville (Liberty County):  large hail estimated at .75” 

Jesup (Wayne County):  a spotter reported hail up to the size of pennies

 Wind Reports

Brunson (Hampton County):  a report of high winds lifting a trampoline up 100 feet off the ground off of Joe Miley Road 

Mount Vernon (Montgomery):  two trees down across Highway 221 

Vidalia (Toombs County):  multiple trees and power lines down 

Reidsville (Tattnall County):  power lines down 

Claxton (Evans County):  trees down on Route 129 

Thunderbolt (Chatham County):  public reported power lines down
