12%. That's the number the CDC gives for African Americans in fair or poor health. So, today at Savannah State University’s Tiger Arena, there was a health and wellness fair to educate the public. Aside from all of the vendors giving out information, part of the fair was a celebrity walk that WSAV's own Kim Gusby and Tina-Tyus Shaw participated in.
The goal today was to offer information to those wanting to learn how to develop a healthier lifestyle.
Rena Hall, Executive Director, Healthy Mothers/Healthy Babies:
"It's really important because access to health care is really important, not everyone has the ability to go to the doctor's when needed. So, our goal is to make sure that everyone has that opportunity and is aware of what's available in their community."
The fair was put on by Savannah Chatham County Public School System's Pupil Personnel Department along with community partners.
