More than 350 girls, representing 14 area little league teams participated in the 2009 City of Savannah Cheerleading Bowl at the Savannah Civic Center.
It’s football season… and as competition heats up on the gridiron between local little league teams, a different type of matchup takes place on the sidelines.
This weekend, young cheerleaders from all over Savannah took the sport to another level as they competed in the 2009 City of Savannah Cheerleading Bowl.
More than 350 girls, representing 14 area little league teams participated in competition. News 3 Coastal Sunrise Anchor, Kim Gusby and E-93 radio personality Kenya Cabine served as the emcees of this spirited event.
Cheerleaders wowed the audience with cheers, chants, jumps and stunts from three divisions.
In the end, the Windsor Forest Knights took home the top trophy in the 8 and under and 12 and under divisions. The Vipers captured the first place title in the 10 & under.

Mitey Mite 8U Division:
2nd place- Vipers
3rd place- Savannah Gators
Pee Wee 10U Division:
2nd place- Windsor Forest Knights
3rd Place- Savannah PALS
Junior Midget 12U Division:
2nd place- Southside Jaguars
3rd place- Savannah Gators
At the end of the ceremony, a special presentation was made to the Carver Heights Stallions from the family of Marquita Mack. Each year, the family presents a trophy in Marquita’s memory to the team that displays the most spirit.
Marquita passed away after an asthma attack in 2006. She was a cheerleader at Savannah High School.
