WASHINGTON (AP) - Health care remains the focus as lawmakers
return from their summer break.
    A day before the president addresses the nation on health care,
a bipartisan group of six Senate Finance Committee members will
meet to consider a possible approach to overhauling the current
system.
    Committee Chairman Max Baucus’ draft calls for non profit co-ops
to compete with traditional insurance companies but does not
include the government option favored by many liberal Democrats.
It’s part of the effort to win support of key GOP members of the
group.
    Some of the $900 billion cost would be covered by a fee on
insurance companies to cover people who are uninsured.
