Case Against Teacher Sent To Grand Jury

There were some heated moments during a preliminary hearing for Erika Simmons on Wednesday.  The Chatham County paraprofessional is accused of having sex with a 15 year old student from Myers Middle School last November.  Garden City Police were questioned by Simmons’ defense attorney about their tactics during the questioning of his client and the credibility of the witness who first brought the allegations to light.  Judge Edenfield did find probable cause and bound the case over to the Grand Jury.  Once again, several dozen people - both friends and family - showed up in support of Erika Simmons.  Family of the alleged victim were in the courtroom as well.
