Chatham County is one step closer to living up to their goal of being the greenest county in Georgia.
Today they opened their new Resource Conservation Education Center. The center is a one stop shop for recycling and resource conservation education.
For now it’s the only way people who live in Chatham County can recycle since they have delayed curbside recycling.
“Used oil, lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, ink cartridges, toner cartridges, paper, aluminum, scrap metal glass, you name it f it’s recyclable we are going to try and collect it,” points out Chatham County’s Environmental Coordinator David Nash.
The center is the first of its kind in the area. It’s made possible thanks to a partnership with the City of Savannah.
