Effingham County Jury Indicts Heidt in Murders of Father, Brother
An Effingham county grand jury indicted Philip Craig Heidt Thursday. Heidt is accused of killing his father and brother, and seriously injuring his mother with a shotgun blast last year.
Michael Muldrew, assistant district attorney for the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit tells NEWS 3 Heidt was indicted on several charges, including two counts of murder, aggravated battery, burglary, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm.
Philip Heidt, 59, and his son Carey, 32, were found dead in the family home last August. Linda. Heidt was seriously wounded.
Heidt’s case was bound over to the grand jury on Monday. The case now moves to Superior Court. Heidt has been denied bond on the murder charges and the date of his next court appearance has not yet been set.
