Going green is not only good for the environment, it’s also helping to fuel the economy. Dozens of people showed up Tuesday at the Charles Morris Center in Savannah for the USGBC Savannah Green Product Expo. Those attending were able to get a glimpse of the innovative ways that businesses are coming up with to save energy, water, and money. Jennifer Deacon, chair of the Savannah USGBC, says the United States Green Building Council is a local resource for bringing business owners and homeowners together with contractors, architects, designers, and engineers who create green buildings. Going green is not only saving people money, it’s also making money for many of the vendors who showcased their products. Bill Savage of Rain Tube Co, which makes roof gutters from recycled milk jugs that drain into tanks that allow water to be re-used, says interest in green products has exploded in the last three years with higher energy costs, oil shocks, and increased consciousness about preserving in the environment. Around 30 vendors to part in the Green Product Expo. Click on the link below for more info about the USGBC.
