SCMPD officials have identified the homicide victim found Thursday afternoon on Hutchinson Island as 21-year old Necco McCrawl.  They say McCrawl was a soldier stationed at Hunter Army Airfield. 

McCrawl’s body was found around 3:30 Thursday on a dirt road on the island.  Metro police remained on the scene investigating for several hours yesterday.

Police discovered McCrawl’s 1-year old child and car were missing.  The child was located in a car seat near the intersection of Heidt Avenue at Old Louisville Road in Garden City.  The child was not harmed and was taken into police custody before being turned over to its mother.

Police are still searching for McCrawl’s vehicle.  He was driving a dark blue 2002 Cadillac Deville with a large scratch along the driver’s side.  The vehicle also has an unknown Georgia plate and a military decal displayed on the front windshield.  Anyone who sees the vehicle is asked to 911 immediately.
