Metro police arrest 6 suspects in two separate armed robberies

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police say they’ve made arrests in two armed robberies, including an incident where a 71 year old man was robbed and beaten in his home.

Police say in the first incident, officers responded to the 2500 block of Fort Argyle Road after reports a man has been beaten with a brick and a crowbar.  The say the man was robbed of money, cell phone and drugs and police say that some type of dispute apparently started with the man and several others. Police later arrested five suspects : 23-year-old Herman Carter, 22-year-old David Jones, 22-year-old Robert Cash, 20-year-old Brent Sarver, all of Savannah; and 18-year-old Justin Meggison of Bloomingdale.  Police are still seeking an additional suspect, described as a while male, 5’8”, 200 pounds, with a shaved head and numerous tattoos.  He may go by the name “Emory”.

In the second arrest, police were actually looking for information about a crime that happened earlier this week when one of the officers spotted a suspect wanted in relation to the armed robbery on April 26.  In that crime, a 71-year-old victim was robbed iand locked in the bathroom of his home on Ogeechee Road
Police say Thursday night, detectives saw the suspect they had been searching for and he that ducked into a residence in the 600 block of West Broad Court.  Officers arrived on the scene with the warrant for the arrest of 23-year-old Vincent Shaunte White, Jr.of Savannah.  Police say White refused to leave the residence until the K-9 unit arrived.  When the warning was given that K-9 would enter the residence, White then surrendered without incident.

All suspects have been booked into the Chatham County Detention Center.
