Drastic job cuts… Some without warning.  That’s the reason for long lines at job fairs around the country.  An important key to unlock jobs is your resume.  “Number 1 make sure it is very professional looking, that there are no errors at all.  Don’t just depend on spell check, “ says Barbara Cromer of Snelling Staffing Services.  Fresh out of college the job search was intimidating for Neale Hood, so he turned to Barbara and Snelling Staffing Services for help building his resume.  “One thing they did was help me shape it very personable.  They were able to kind of guide me through the process and I felt more comfortable when I interviewed for jobs down the road,“ says Neal.  Avoiding crowded job fairs worked for Robyn Iannone.  Realizing her job was drying up, she knew who to call for help.  “I pulled up my old resume in an ugly old font and sent it to Karen, and she worked her magic.  She gave me a lot of suggestions about taking some college stuff off that didn’t need to be on there anymore,“ says Robyn.  Other helpful resume advice Robyn and Neale got at Snelling…  keep your resume current, make your resume performance based so your potential employer can see your accomplishments, don’t overstate credentials, and have more than one resume depending on the type of job.  “It’s got to have some meat to it, and key words that will bounce off the page,“ says Snelling Recruiter Karen Payne.  The two biggest things I’ve learned is don’t get discouraged and keep your options open,“ says Neale.

That resume support from Snelling has paid off for both Robyn and Neale.  They are employed now. Here’s a good deal if you’re building your resume right now.  Staples is offering free resume copies and business cards through June 13th.
