(EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ga.) A Savannah man goes to bond his brother out of the Effingham County Jail, and ends up going to jail himself after Sheriff’s deputies discover a large amount of marijuana hidden in his underwear.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle as it was about to pull into the Effingham County Jail for a minor traffic violation.

The deputy says he observed a drug-related object, and marijuana inside the vehicle.  The front seat passenger, 30-year-old Henry Lee Adkins of Savannah, advised deputies he was going into the jail to post bond for his brother who had been arrested earlier on unrelated charges. During a search, deputies found twenty seven bags of marijuana inside Adkins underwear.

Adkins was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession of drug related objects.

The driver, 28-year-old Jamel Mells of Savannah, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug related objects, driving with a suspended license as well as other traffic related charges.

Mells and Adkins are both being held in the Effingham County Jail.
