Savannah Murder victim identified, found shot near a church early Saturday morning

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police say 21-year-old Marcus D. Allen of Savannah died early Saturday morning after apparently being shot somewhere on Tibet Street.

Around 2 a.m. Saturday, police responded to 400 block of Tibet Avenue on a report of gunshots heard in the area. But when officers a conducted a search, they could not find evidence of a shooting.  About an hour later, just before 3:00 a.m., a bicyclist saw man lying near the Southside Assembly of God church located at 401 Tibet Ave.  Thinking something was wrong; the bicyclist called 911.  Officers responded and found Allen.

Police are still looking for leads in the killing.  Anyone with information is asked to call Homicide detectives at 912-651-6728 or Crime Stoppers at 912-234-2020 where you can remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
