Savannah Teacher Named Georgia Marketing Teacher of The Year
Bettina Tate has been named the 2008-09 Georgia Marketing Teacher of the Year by the Georgia Marketing Education Association (GMEA). Bettina is a teacher at Johnson High School. Currently in her fourth year, Mrs. Tate was most recently recognized by GMEA as the 2009 Outstanding New Career Technical Education Teacher. She’s launched the Smasher Marketing Firm at Johnson High. It’s a student-run organization that provides marketing assistance to local small businesses. In addition to other accompishments, Mrs. Tate has also incorporated sports and entertainment courses to her marketing curriculum.
Mrs. Tate serves as Co-chair of the Career Tech Department, Site Coordinator for High Schools That Work, Primary DECA Advisor, Teacher Advisor for the Gulfstream/Monster.com Student Leadership Program and Event Coordinator for MEGA FEST, Johnson High School’s end of the year Showcase. She was also recently elected Johnson High School’s nominee for 2010-2011 Savannah-Chatham County Teacher of the Year.
The award recognizes teachers who provide outstanding career and technical education programs for marketing students.
