COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Voters in South Carolina will get a chance
to see how Democrat and Republican candidates for governor will
tackle issues during a joint debate.
South Carolina ETV says Tuesday night’s televised debate is the
first of its kind.
The Orangeburg event features the five Democratic Party hopefuls
and five Republican Party candidates and their views on the
environment and economic development.
Republicans had their first formal debate in Newberry last
month. Democrats turned what was supposed to be a stump meeting
into a debate the next night a few miles away in Prosperity.
Candidates are trying to build visibility for June’s primary.
The debate will be taped and then broadcast at 8 p.m. and streamed
over the Internet.
