The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, in cooperation with the Federal Bureau of Investigations, is working on the armed robbery of an Okatie area bank that occurred early this morning.

At approximately 7:30 am this morning, Sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported armed robbery of the Coastal States Bank (30 William Pope Dr) outside of Sun City. Upon arrival, deputies met with three employees who advised the bank had been robbed by an armed suspect.

The victims described the suspect as a white male, approximately 5’08”, 160 lbs, wearing a black ski mask, a dark colored fishing-style hat, a dark blue or black jacket with a Hargray patch on the left breast and left sleeve, and khaki pants. The suspect, armed with an unknown weapon, demanded money and was given an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect then fled the area in an unknown direction, leaving the victims unharmed. No further details are available at this time.

The investigation will be assumed by the FBI with the assistance of Sheriff’s Office investigators. Anyone with any information is asked to contact FBI Agent Don DeMay at (803) 551-4200 or the Beaufort County Dispatch Center at (843) 524-2777.
