In January AASU will celebrate the 75th Anniversary of its founding.
AASU will celebrate the 75th anniversary of its founding in 2010. The university was founded in the Historic Armstrong House in Savannah in 1935.
On Monday, Nov. 2, students, faculty and staff from all across the campus came together to form a human 75 on the intramural fields of the university. The event was a way to get students and the entire campus thinking about AASU’s 75 anniversary. Photos and videos from today’s event will be used to promote the 75th anniversary in 2010 and give the university an iconic image to use during the celebratory year.
About the 75th Anniversary in 2010:
In 2010, the university will host a number of special events throughout the year to commemorate its 75th anniversary. Some of those will include performances by the Department of Art, Music and Theatre, special lectures and presentations. One event will involve President Linda Bleicken’s inauguration in the fall.
AASU invites all alumni, the community, community partners and friends to join in the celebration throughout the year. Alumni will be able to write about their Armstrong Atlantic memories in a section of alumni web site.
2010 promises to be an exciting year for the campus, not only for the anniversary, but also as two new buildings come online. A new Student Center will open in early spring, while Windward Commons, a freshmen-dedicated residence hall, will open in time for fall 2010 classes.
