Child Dies in Hospital, Stepmother Charged with Murder

Police say Naticia Laurent, 24, is charged with homicide by child abuse.
BEAUFORT, SC—A Beaufort woman is now charged with murder, after police say her stepdaughter died in the hospital.
Beaufort police arrested Natacia Laurent, 24, Thursday on charges of inflicting great bodily harm on a child.
Laurent is accused of getting angry and punishing the four year-old girl for misbehaving.
The child died Sunday at the hospital. An autopsy is being performed at MUSC.
Police say Laurent remains in jail and is now charged with homicide by child abuse.
