On Monday, January 26th, at 6:30 PM, Hilton Head Regional Habitat for Humanity will conduct a New Family Orientation meeting for those local residents who live or work in Southern Beaufort County or Jasper County and are interested in learning how they may apply for a Habitat house.  The meeting will be at the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club 913 Old Grays Road, Ridgeland, SC.

All local residents are invited to attend.  Application will be available at the orientation. For further information, call 757-5864.

Habitat for Humanity provides a hand up, not a hand out. To qualify for a Habitat home, applicants must go through a rigorous approval process, attend family workshops on preparing for home ownership and agree to provide “sweat equity”, not only on the construction of their own home but on future homes for others. Owners make regular mortgage payments back to Habitat to pay for their homes, and then those funds are reinvested by Habitat to build future homes. This is an illustration of “helping those that help themselves” at its very best.

At present, Hilton Head Regional Habitat for Humanity has completed the building of 62 homes in Brendan Woods in Bluffton.
