Nearly 700 animals got free vaccinations
in Myrtle Beach, thanks to a veterinarian who said he wanted to
give back to the community.
WBTW-TV reported that the staff at Best Friend Animal Hospital
and 15 volunteers provided the free basic vaccinations Sunday, with
a long line forming in the morning. Dr. Muhammed Bajwa owns the
clinic and says he wanted to help pet owners suffering because of
the bad economy.
He also said he wanted to help because of an outbreak of the
deadly distemper virus.
Bajwa said the typical basic vaccines cost about $36 an animal,
and that can add up quickly for people with multiple pets.
