Off-Duty Police Officer Dies In SC Wreck

An off-duty College of Charleston police
officer has died in a wreck on a South Carolina highway.
    Colleton County Coroner Richard Harvey told The Beaufort Gazette
that Robert Barnett was killed in a wreck on U.S. 17 near Green
Pond late Tuesday morning.
    Public Safety Department spokesman Sid Gaulden says Barnett was
traveling south when his car crossed the center line and hit a
tractor-trailer head-on.
    Harvey says Barnett died at the scene. He says an autopsy is
planned Wednesday.
    Gaulden says the truck driver was not hurt.
