NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C.- Police have arrested Andrea Samone Walker, 19, from Goose Creek for the kidnapping of 1-month-old Angel Miguel Perez.
Perez was taken from a car at the Rivers Avenue Post Office on Monday afternoon while his mother was inside running an errand. His abduction resulted in an amber alert spanning 2 days.
Police think Walker followed mother and child and saw an opportunity at the Post Office to abduct the child. Police went to the Grove Apartment Complex where they found the infant in an apartment with Walker and several other people. Those people are not facing charges.
The arrest and recovery came thanks to citizen phone tips.
Perez and his parents were re-united around 12:30 am Wednesday and Walker was taken into custody. A bond hearing for Walker is expected at 2pm.

What would be the point of fining the mother? I don’t think anyone is looking to punish her for leaving her child in the car. People are concerned for the child’s well-being. There are stories on the news every year down here about how it is illegal to leave your dog in the car, so why on earth would a new mother leave her baby in the car? I remember what it is like to have a newborn, and the paranoia that comes with it. Something is definitely wrong when someone leaves their one month old baby alone in a car. She should be investigated, and someone needs to monitor that baby’s well-being.
i remember when i was pregnant and all of these hideous eyes would be staring at my belly, fortunately i had my big strong hubby with me anytime i went out….i know with all of the stds floating around and everything, women are loosing their fertility and wombs at a record rate…must be some desperation! Yup, i agree, she should at least pay a hefty fine to the city of charleston, i don’t know about neglect because it is rough being a mother! Single moms have it the hardest… so, maybe a 2k dollar fine. Ladies, get tested as soon as you become active, chlamydia may not take your life, but it will eventually take your tubes! Use a midwife (midwife group) , they will help you avoid being gutted on the table at memorial! Just some tips for life!
What a blessing for the family that this story has a happy ending but I do agree with mvk..why was the child left in the car? Does this mother not watch the news! Im sure if she had to do it over she now wouldnt of left her son unattended but shouldnt there still be child neglect charges filed againt this careless mother. Is it illegal to leave your child in the car? Im not sure the child should have just been returned to the mother so easily. Its not like her 6yr old was abbducted on the way home from school, it was from her own neglect of her child that her son was taking. In all Im just glad the baby is well and safe.
My concern is why was the child left in the car in the first place?
