It’s a story we share far too often these days, organizations that help in desperate need of help themselves. In this case, their name is “Help of Beaufort” and since 1979 they’ve provided needy neighbors with assistance in rent, utility bills, food, and clothing.

Fripp Island Gator Attacks Golfer, Bites Arm Off
There was no word Friday night on the condition of the Fripp Island golfer who lost his arm in an alligator attack Thursday. The man, in his 70’s, was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston with hopes of getting his arm re-attached.

Remembering Trooper Bruce Smalls, SC Highway Patrol
In 1985, Trooper First Class Bruce Smalls lost his life while conducting a traffic stop along I-95 in Jasper County. Friday, September 25th, friends, family, and fellow law enforcement workers honored Trooper Smalls by unveiling a road sign that will stand near exit five in Hardeeville.

One Step Closer to Unemployment Benefits Extension
Some jobless Americans are one step closer to keeping their unemployment benefits. The House of Representatives passed a bill Tuesday to extend unemployment compensation for more than a million people who could lose those benefits by the end of the year. This 13-week extension would only apply to jobless workers in the District of Columbia and 27 states with unemployment rates of 8.5% or higher. Georgia and South Carolina are among the list.
