Ft. Stewart Soldier Injured in Accident Dies From Injuries

FORT STEWART, Ga. (May 22, 2009) – A 3rd Infantry Division Soldier died at 8 p.m., Thursday, at Savannah Memorial Hospital.‬‪ Staff Sgt. Daniel S. Michael, 27, of Harrisville, Pa., was assigned to 3rd Signal Company, Division Special Troops Battalion as an information systems operator/analyst. He arrived at Fort Stewart on Aug. 13, 2007.  He joined the Army on Aug. 31, 2000.‬‪ Staff Sgt. Michael was initially listed in serious condition due to injuries sustained from a vehicular accident here Wednesday.‬‪ The cause of the accident is still under investigation.‬‪ Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield extend their sympathies to the family of Staff Sgt. Michael.‬‪‬‪


Memorial Health tells NEWS 3 a Third Infantry Division Soldier died Friday, after an accident on Ft. Stewart earlier in the week.
Staff Sgt Daniel Michael was injured Wednesday when his vehicle and a Humvee collided head on. The accident happened around 5:30 p.m. on Georgia Route 47 near the entrance to Fort Stewart.  Michael was airlifted to Memorial following the accident.
Michael was assigned to the Division Special Troops Battalion.
Spc. Zachary Robertson, Pfc. Arthur Barboza, and Pvt. Luther Grimes were also injured in the accident, but have since been treated and released.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
