Military officials say a 29 year-old Marine from Richmond Hill has been killed in action while serving in Operation Enduring Freedom.

The Department of Defense says Capt. Matthew Freeman died Friday supporting combat operations in Kapisa province, Afghanistan.

Officials say Freeman was assigned to Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Okinawa, Japan.
