Savannah Soldier Killed in Afghanistan Helicopter Crash

October is now the deadliest month in Afghanistan for U.S. troops. Fifty five soldiers have died and News Three has learned one of them, was stationed here in Savannah at Hunter Army Airfield.
Sergeant Nickolas Mueller, a member of the 1-60th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, died in one of Monday’s helicopter crashes.
He and nine others were returning from the scene of a firefight with suspected Taliban drug traffickers when the Chinook they were traveling in crashed.
His parents say Mueller was a crew chief and was training to become a pilot.
He was supposed to be home in time for Christmas.
