Soldier Injured in Serious Accident Involving Humvee and Personal Vehicle

Update from Fort Stewart: FORT STEWART, Ga. (May 20, 2009) - Four Fort Stewart Soldiers were injured today at approximately 5:30 p.m. when a military vehicle and civilian car wrecked on Georgia Route 47 near the east entrance to Fort Stewart, Ga.
One Soldier was air-lifted to Savannah Memorial hospital and three Soldiers were taken to Winn Army Community Hospital located on Fort Stewart. The current medical status is unknown for the Soldier air-lifted, while two of the Soldiers taken to WACH are in good condition and the other is stable said WACH medical authorities.
Route 47 is currently closed to traffic due to the accident, but will be reopened once the vehicles are removed from the scene of the accident said Fort Stewart military police.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
Military officials confirm a soldier was airlifted to the hospital after a serious accident involving a military humvee and a personal vehicle.
It happened on GA-144 on Fort Stewart. NEWS 3 will continue following the story and bring you any updates as they become available.
