Hunter Army Airfield’s 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment is welcoming a new commander Thursday.

Today about eight hundred soldiers from the First Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment gathered to receive awards for their most recent deployment in support of Operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Two soldiers from Georgia and South Carolina died Monday in Iraq.

Another unit of the 3rd Infantry Division readies for deployment to Iraq and to some degree, we all know deployment means danger when it comes to Iraq.
Training for and actually being in combat are two very different things. Which is why the Army is working to minimize that difference…..increasing the pace and putting more pressure on the soldiers.

Also training today some four legged soldiers…members of the 385th Military Police Battalion were part of the exercise.

Roughly a year ago, the Effingham County Community said goodbye to close to one hundred soldiers from the 118th Field Artillery as they marched out of town.
