Next Step for Savannah World War Two Monument
For more than five years now, area veterans have worked on getting a World War Two Monument erected in Savannah. About a month ago the city broached the possibility of placing it on River Street.
The Veterans Council approved of the change and yesterday the council unanimously approved the change. News Three’s Alice Massimi has more on some of the new hurdles facing the completion of the project.

US deaths down in Iraq in 2008, up in Afghanistan
As 2008 comes to an end, U.S. military deaths have plunged in Iraq, but risen sharply in Afghanistan. The Associated Press tally puts the death toll among U.S. personnel in Iraq at 314. That’s down from 904 in 2007, a drop of nearly two-thirds. In all, at least 4,221 U.S. soldiers have died in Iraq since the war began in 2003.
