This Saturday is the one-year anniversary of the sugar refinery explosion. Share your memories and thoughts below about the incident. Your comments may be shared on tv.

News 3 will be broadcasting a special program called “Imperial Sugar: A Community Reflects” on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The broadcast will include a look back on events and progress of the last year, and then a special Imperial Sugar service live, scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. The hour-long event will include an address by John Sheptor, President and CEO of Imperial Sugar as well as other community leaders. Legacy Park will be formally dedicated and unveiled.

This video is chilling—it brought tears to my eyes as I recalled that terrible night. I’m an ER nurse, working during the tragedy, stabilizing patients and shipping them off to Augusta. The victims and their families are still in my thoughts and prayers.
