FL Man Stabbed Trying to Help Woman in Distress

Police in Largo, Florida say a man was stabbed as he tried to help a woman being attacked by her boyfriend.
     
Authorities arrested the boyfriend, whom they identified as Thomas Callahan.

Officers responded to a call reporting the fight late Monday. Authorities say the 42-year-old punched the woman, who wasn't identified, in the face and threatened her with a knife as she held her child.

Police say that's when a neighbor, who was also not identified, broke up the fight. He was stabbed in the side during the scuffle and was later taken to a local hospital.
     
Callahan faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, child abuse and domestic battery.
