Georgia’s gas tax is four cents lower in 2009…but all 50 states could soon see an increase in the federal gas tax.

Legislators are looking into the possibility - because people are driving less.

The tax revenue is coming is down because less gas is being bought.

A committee that oversees transportation financing says it plans to release a report that asks congress to raise the gas tax by 10 cents a gallon… and diesel tax by 12 to 15 cents.

Current rates are 18.4 cents per gallon for gas, and 24.4 cents a gallon for diesel.
