(Savannah)There’s all kinds of opinions on what we should do about health care and the high cost.
Some people want a public option, but we know others who don’t.  Across the country and here at home, town hall meetings have been taking place to talk about that.  Congressman John Barrow was invited to speak to the Chamber of Commerce in Savannah this morning about the Health Care debate.  The meeting was only for members and their invited guests.  The gathering was calm compared to some of the town halls we’ve seen in other places.  One lady expressed concern about how much it would cost small businesses.  Another woman said she was worried about people with pre-existing conditions continuing to get health insurance.  I talked to Congressman Barrow after the meeting.  “What do you think will happen?  My crystal ball is nobody else’s, but based on what I hear coming from the Senate and what I think is possible over there I think its very unlikely that we’re gonna have a public option.  If we do its gonna be so heavily limited in condition that for a long time we’re gonna give the private enterprise system a chance to work before we decide it can’t work,“ says Congressman Barrow.  Barrow says he won’t be influenced by other lawmaker’s opinions about the health care bill.  “I’m gonna vote for those things that make sense that are worthwhile that can actually make things better for the people who are paying the bills today.  I’m not gonna vote for anything that will take away any benefits or any insurance coverage that folks have today.  I’m not gonna put any of that stuff at risk directly or indirectly.“  You can express your health care reform concerns later this month in an open forum hosted by Congressman Jack Kingston.  The forum is Friday, September 18th at 10 AM in the Fine Arts Auditorium at Armstrong Atlantic State University.
