Soldier Fighting Breast Cancer Shares Her Story
Soldier Fighting Breast Cancer Shares Her Story...
First Lieutenant Andrea Graham was diagnosed with breast cancer in August. She?s with The 260th Quartermaster Battalion.
(Savannah) “I had my first mass removed at age 34. It was benign, but at age 35 I hade a tumor and it was invasive breast cancer. It’s been very difficult through the surgeries that I had, and you know I didn’t want to be around soldiers. I was scared. I didn’t want to talk to them. But today has definitely opened doors for me as well as soldiers speaking about breast cancer. My grandmother passed from breast cancer. It’s just great that the military and the community has come out to spread this awareness and to help save lives.“ First Lieutenant Graham will begin chemotherapy next week, and she’s knows she will outlive the disease. She’s encouraging all women to do your breast self exams and get your annual mammograms.
