Congressman Wilson Answers Questions from Reporters

Wilson was confronted about his “You lie!“ comments Thursday morning by reporters.  Watch what he had to say.

    WASHINGTON (AP) - Members of both parties are denouncing last night’s outburst by a Republican congressman during President Barack Obama’s speech to Congress.
    Even the guest chaplain who gave the opening prayer for today’s session appeared to refer to it. In his prayer, the Very Rev. George L.W. Werner said, “We cannot control all that may endanger us, but we can choose our behavior and the example we set as leaders.“ Werner is dean emeritus of Trinity Cathedral in Pittsburgh.
    South Carolina’s Joe Wilson shouted “You lie” at the president, after Obama said extending health care to all Americans would not mean insuring illegal immigrants. Wilson later apologized.
    Vice President Joe Biden says he was “embarrassed for the chamber” and for the Congress he loves. On ABC’s “Good Morning America,“ Biden said Wilson’s behavior “demeaned the institution.“
    House Minority Whip Eric Cantor told ABC the president “deserves respect and decorum” and it was appropriate for Wilson to apologize.
    When asked this morning whether Wilson should face sanctions, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said, “It’s time for us to talk about health care, not Mr. Wilson.“
