WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A 34-year-old inmate serving time for being an accessory to a felony has escaped by walking away from her work assignment in West Columbia.

The South Carolina Department of Corrections says Beverly Susanne Adams walked away from her job at the Columbia Farms chicken plant about 11 p.m. Friday.

Adams began serving her nearly six-year sentence in Greenville County in 2007. Her projected release was March 2010.

Adams is white, with blue eyes and brown hair. She is 5-foot-4 and weighs about 220 pounds.
