Savannah Native Named Fire Chief In Decatur, GA
History was made January 5, 2009, as Toni (Barnes) Tolbert Dixon was sworn in as fire chief of decatur, GA. Dixon is the first African American and first female to become fire chief in Decatur, outside of Atlanta. She is also the fourth black female fire chief in the nation and the 32nd female to become a fire chief in the nation.
