Friday marks final signoff for analog TV service

NEW YORK (AP) — Television stations across the U.S. started cutting their analog signals Friday morning, marking the final signoff for a 60-year-old technology and likely stranding more than 1 million unprepared homes without TV service.

The National Association of Broadcasters says a survey indicates that many people are ready for the switch to digital.  Still, the NAB says it would support a delay, because of concerns that a coupon program for converter boxes has a backlog of millions of names

Senate Close to Deal to Delay Digital TV Rollout

It looks like the switchover from analog to digital TV won’t happen next month, as originally planned. The Senate is close to an agreement on a bill that would delay the rollout of digital TV to June 12th, instead of February 17th.
